Free Military Records Scanning Service for Service Members

military records scanning service

We’ve heard from many service members and veterans who still have their records stored on microfiche and are struggling to access them. Finding a reliable way to convert these into a usable format can be difficult, and for something as important as military records, that shouldn’t be the case.

That’s why we created this free military records scanning service. Send us your microfiche via USPS, and we’ll scan it for you, converting it into clear, easy-to-use PDF files. We’ll email you a secure link along with login details so that you can download your records. There’s no cost for this service; it’s our way of giving back to those who served.

Your Privacy Comes First

We know how personal and important your military records are. That’s why we handle every step of this process with the care it deserves. Your microfiche never leaves our facility, and only trained staff are involved in the scanning.

When your records are ready, we’ll send you a password-protected link to download your files. No one else will have access. As for the original microfiche, you choose what happens next. If you’d like it returned, just include a stamped envelope when you send it in. If you’d rather we destroy it, we’ll securely shred it after 10 days. Either way, your information stays private and protected.

How Does This Service Work

We’ve kept the process as straightforward as possible to try and alleviate any issues or stress on your end. Here is all you need to do:

  1. Print and fill out this form with your name, email, and phone number. Check the box to tell us whether you want your original microfiche returned or securely shredded. If you’d like it returned, include a stamped return envelope with your address.
  2. Place the completed form and your microfiche in an envelope (along with the stamped return envelope, if desired) and mail it to:

    SecureScan
    Attn: Military Records Scanning
    1060 Broadway
    Albany, NY 12204
  3. Once the scanning process is complete, you’ll get an email from us at the address provided with a secure link and password so you can download your PDF files right away.

That’s it. It’s an easy way to turn your microfiche into something you can actually use.

PDFs Make a Difference

Once your microfiche has been converted to PDF, your records will be much more accessible. PDFs are one of the most widely compatible formats, which means you can open them on almost any computer, phone, or tablet without special software. Microfiche, on the other hand, requires specialized equipment that can be difficult to find and often inconvenient to use.

With your records in PDF format, you can:

  • Print a copy at home whenever you need one
  • Share them quickly with a doctor, benefits office, or family member
  • Store them safely on your computer or in a backup so they’re always within reach
